Kuya Asian Restaurant

We searched for local Asian restaurants in the area whilst on holiday and this didn’t disappoint! The food was lovely, we had for starters the sausage and Thai fish cake (couldn’t recommend these enough!!) Mains were lovely and tasty. Very reasonably priced and the management were very welcoming!

This is the second night in a row that we've been in for food. We're so happy that we found this place! Service last night was excellent, very personal and staff attentive. Tonight, a different vibe - less conversation from the staff, but the food has been just as good, if not better. Wow! It's our last night tomorrow, and we may well be back for the third night in a row! Chefs, I hope the waitress gave you a hug as I requested twice. Thanks, Alice and Daniel

We had such a great time here! The food was really delicious, especially the duck spring rolls — crispy, flavorful, and honestly the best we’ve had in a long time. The Lychee Spritz was amazing too. It was so good that we even asked our waiter for the secret recipe! Big thanks to Rico, who took care of us the whole evening. He was friendly, attentive, and made everything feel easy and pleasant. A lovely place — we’d definitely come back!

Can’t recommend enough! Staff, food and atmosphere are all amazing! My boyfriend and I got bang bang spring rolls and Maltese sausage yakitori for starters. For my meal my server recommended the crispy beef honey soy glazed dish and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend got the Pad ka po and said he loved it. Rico was our server and he was so friendly, we will absolutely be back!

All in all a very pleasant experience. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation so keep that in mind. You do not have a lot of things to choose from, but what they have is incredibly good. The bao buns were fluffy, the meat was crunchy and perfectly glazed/seasoned. The staff as pretty much anywhere in Malta are super friendly, the ambient is modern, but you really wouldn't associate it with the food that is served here (not a problem). Also it is located in the centre of St.Julian next to a bus station.

Came on a weeknight without reservation and it was full. Were seated by the bar to wait as there was table about to pay. Great way of handling the situation. I was there once before and had drink with lychee juice so I asked the waiter if they still have it and he said they don't have anything with lychee. My bad for not asking the bartender, as later on when we were seated I noticed some tables have been given a board with specials. When asked for it they brought us one and there was the lychee cocktail. Few minutes after being relocated from the bar to a table waiter came to ask if we are ready to order. We asked for few more minutes and then waited over 15 minutes to catch someone to place our order. During our few hours there 2 staff members kept coming and asking if everything is okay and if we need anything - points for that. Fried octopus balls - too much mayo, very little of octopus. Chicken gyoza - amazing. Honey glazed beef with noodles - amazing. Drunken noodles - were warned they are spicy when ordering them, had them before and it was really spicy, but this time zero spicines, so had to ask for extra chilli. I understand Asian cultures view personal space differently, but I don't find it professional for waiter to keep patting shoulder, back and even wrapping his arm around my partner, while making silly remarks.

This was one of the best food experiences in Malta. Everything that came to our table was so flavorful and well thought. This is a Michelin awarded restaurant and we can see why! Kudos to Rico our waiter who made us smile and laugh every time he came to our table. I love the sense of humor, it made our dining experience even better.

Loved the atmosphere and vibe! Rico the server is such a fantastic conversationalist and makes all the best recommendations. I loved the Tuna Ceviche and the Bang Bang Chicken! The staff are fantastic and really attentive!
